Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) Course

Course Description:
The ASSET Course is a one-day, cadaver-based training designed to provide surgeons and other advanced trauma providers with a standardized, anatomical approach to critical exposure techniques in trauma. Developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the course teaches exposure of vital structures in five key body areas — neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis, extremities, and vascular — using a hands-on, mentored format.
Participants will be guided through surgical exposures using a consistent and replicable approach to enhance their ability to manage trauma-related injuries. This course is ideal for those seeking to advance their operative trauma skills in a controlled, high-fidelity environment.
 
Who Should Attend:
  • Surgeons, surgical fellows, and senior surgical residents involved in trauma care.
  • Emergency medicine physicians and other advanced practice providers who manage trauma patients in surgical settings.
 
Prerequisites:
  • Background in trauma care and familiarity with surgical anatomy is strongly recommended.
