The Heartsaver® CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including; security guards, airline personnel, personal trainers and teachers.
It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.
If you fail to receive course confirmation via email, please check your SPAM/Junk folders. Retreving your course manual is a pre-requisite for this course.
UH and Rutgers employees are only eligible for renewal for 45 days prior to your expiration date (as noted above).

NOTE: After 3/1/2025 the Heartsaver Class location is 185 South Orange Avenue, Newark NJ in the Rutgers Medical Science Building. Students without parking passes can park in the P2 parking deck at the corner of South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street. The address for the parking deck is 160 Bergen Street. You can access the deck from either South Orange Ave or Bergen Street.

Note: The Heartsaver CPR / AED Course is not recommended for people in or entering the medical profession.

In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for our staff and students all participants must:
- Be subject to COVID screening, including screening and temperature checks. Any student determined to be sick will not be permitted to participate in the training session
- Don a face covering while in all UH owned and leased properties (provided)
- Remain at least 6 feet distance from others at all times
- Practice hand-hygiene at the start,and throughout the course
- If you are sick, STAY HOME.
Employees of University Hospital and Rutgers are not eligible for “free” BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP Provider and/or Recertification courses until 45 days from your current expiration date.
