The American Heart Association ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills; emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Students may only register for the renewal course with a valid and up to date AHA ACLS card.

The ACLS Renewal course is a shorten version of the ACLS Initial course. You may register for the renewal course only if your card is still valid. In order to prove the card is valid, you must show up to the class with the original AHA ACLS card that is not expired. We will only honor the expiration date on the card until the end of the month it is set to expire on.
Pre-Course Assessments (ACLS/ PALS ONLY)
The American Heart Association requires all ACLS & PALS Course participants (including recertification courses) to complete the pre-course assessment PRIOR to the course date. Students will be assigned the pre-course assessment directly to the email they provided during their course registration. If you do not receive the link to your email, please call the office. DO NOT utilize pre-course assessments found on the internet as they will not be accepted- you MUST use the link provided by the UH Training Center.
All students MUST pass with a score of 80% or greater. Reattempts are unlimited.
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-Course assessments MUST be completed AT LEAST 24 hours prior to the class start time. If the pre-course assessment is not completed at that time, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS and will be charged the administrative fee. Even if the precourse assessment is completed after that time- YOU WILL STILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE CLASS.
UH and Rutgers employees are only eligible for renewal for 45 days prior to your expiration date (as noted above).
Employees of University Hospital and Rutgers are not eligible for “free” BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP Provider and/or Recertification courses until 45 days from your current expiration date.
Course discounts are provided to the employees of sponsoring hospitals. Please choose your employer from the drop down list below of click on "General Public" if you are not affiliated with one of our sponsors. Employee ID's WILL be checked at the start of each class. For individuals wishing to pay in the form of check/money order or cash, you will need to register "in person" at the Newark office located at 65 Bergen Street, Newark NJ, room GA-67.
